Whether you call it an elopement or just a tiny wedding of your immediate family, these intimate gatherings have so much to recommend them. I love them. They’re magical, especially here in the Pacific Northwest with all our beautiful nooks and crannies, begging for outdoor-loving couples to come and enjoy. These are some of my favorite reasons to host a small wedding:
- The world is your oyster. Not limited by standard wedding venues, catering concerns, big bridal parties or logistics for managing many people in one space, you can get married almost anywhere. On a mountain, by a lake, at the base of a waterfall, across the country, across the globe… Now your location is your own, meaningful, and utterly unforgettable.
- There’s time to relax, and to do what matters to you. Without a long list of events, you can spend as long as you like on breakfast, socializing with your tiny guest list, photos, relaxing, exploration, etc.
- Budgeting is simple. It’s so easy to pick your priorities and put your money where it matters.
- The focus is on your relationship and spending time together. You can even rope your honeymoon into your wedding, and go on a grand adventure.
Keep eloping, friends. It’s magical.
