I have mixed feelings about the first look. On the one hand, I love how it adds extra time to the day, and takes the pressure off of the groom to show his appreciation of the way the bride looks while standing in front of a hundred guests. On the other hand, some people find that the first look feels overly staged… like there is a lot of pressure on them to react in a particular way when they see their spouse-to-be for the first time in their wedding attire. The ones who fare best seem to be those who do it all for the sake of good fun: “Yes, there is a camera pointed at me, and yes, this all feels inherently unnatural, but what the heck – you only get married once, right? Let’s do this and have a good time with it.”
Meghan and Drew both approached their first look with fun nonchalance, and you can just feel how relaxed and happy they were when they saw each other for the first time. The wedding day has taken so much planning and so much expense and has so many expectations wrapped up in it, but the best way to enjoy it is to wake up that morning and let all of that go… riding this wild wedding ride until the day comes to a close.
