Bethy and Dan first inquired just a couple short months ago – first was I available on a holiday – and then the normal wedding inquiry questions we all receive. They planned a Christmas Eve wedding for after the solstice, as the days start reaching towards more light and on their slow march into spring. They married surrounded by redwoods in Hoyt Arboretum, in front of twelve guests and with a light mist falling throughout the ceremony.
After twelve years of photographing weddings, they gave me two firsts. We longtime wedding photographers like to say we’ve seen it all, but there’s always something new out there, just waiting to show us we’re wrong. It’s the first time I’ve photographed a Christmas Eve wedding and it’s the first time I photographed a wedding in hiking boots. And since I did plenty of slippery, muddy slope climbing to capture this frame I’m glad I brought my Keens along for the ride!
This is just a little sneak peek of their intimate Hoyt Arboretum wedding, but we’d love for you to amble on over to our Turn Loose the Art website to see more photos of all kinds of weddings.
