Roofies
I love Portland rooftop weddings and The Nines has one of the best spots in town. It’s a winning combination- an outdoor ceremony with awesome views that then moves inside for dinner and a reception at a swank hotel. Nice.
Late
This isn’t the flashiest image- but it is real.
It’s late in the night and the bride and groom have found themselves back on the dance floor.
He looks happy.
Helping Hands
I always love seeing and photographing bridesmaids and moms (and the occasional groom) taking such care with the bride’s dress. It makes for great moments and photographs.
This was another awesome Portland wedding- check out the quick preview slideshow at robertmcnary.com
Sundown
It wasn’t hard to convince this couple to take a few minutes away from their rockin’ reception at Bridal Veil Lakes to snap a few pics. Sharing a kiss on a dock by a lake- not a bad way to spend the first sunset of their marriage, don’t you think?
Stumptown
There are so many cool spots like this one around downtown Portland.
The couple and I had fifteen minutes to walk the 3 blocks from their ceremony site at St. James Lutheran Church in the Park Blocks to the University Club. Within those three blocks we could choose from antique stonework, lush greenery, or sleek, modern architecture to incorporate into our pictures.
Thank you Portland.
All Aboard
Because I have two young boys who love trains I seem to be at Portland’s Union Station at least once a week. I have this location very well scouted.
This couple will be getting married in late August and I can’t wait— these two are super fun and super cute.
Stroll in the Park
The South Park Blocks get all the press but the North Blocks offer all the beauty with half the crowds.
Moments after seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day this couple took a minute to enjoy a short walk under the towering trees.
Table for Two
This was a nice, quiet moment in the middle of a fast-paced day.
As your photographer I try to make sure you have a couple of these throughout your day- not only because they present nice moments to photograph but also because you deserve it.
Lush
Oh yeah- blue skies, puffy clouds and an awesome couple. Sign me up!

Good Taste
Such dedication from the bridal party- they even made sure that their tongues were color coordinated.

The Orchard
It’s always a treat to take photographs in orchards.
Some are perfectly neat and orderly, others are like this one with a more rugged, wild beauty. All of them offer up interesting possibilities for light and composition and a nice stroll with your honey.

On the Coast
This was an awesome wedding held on the couple’s farm in Tillamook. The weather held for most of the day until these clouds rolled in.
The groom, as sharp as he looked in his white tux, couldn’t wait to get back into something more comfortable.
It’s your day.
In the Woods
Refined natural beauty is how I would describe Bridal Veil Lakes. This path through the trees on the far side of the lake is always a favorite spot of mine with its soft light and lofty trees.
They Dance
The open space and pretty twinkle lights of the Oregon Garden make a great setting for a first dance and reception.
This is a great venue during the colder months because of the huge indoor space available- but it really shines as the weather warms up with its beautiful lawns and gardens.
Happy
Nice light, good composition, accurate exposure; elements that I try to incorporate into every image.
They all take a back seat to the moment.
Lounge Act
I can’t think of a better way to start your wedding day- lounging in your robe with your closest friends and family, mimosas in hand.
Mmmm, mimosas.
The Bride
As Lauren mentions in her post below, the bridal portrait is a very special, unique, and often surreal experience.
You’re looking absolutely drop-dead gorgeous, I just need to press the button.
