The Game of Life
Since 1860, people have enjoyed playing the Game of Life. The metaphors are all there on the board. College, marriage, children and all the ups and downs in-beween.
This wedding was held at the beautiful historic Columbia Gorge Hotel. Much like the Game of Life, the unpredictable happened. A forest fire broke out across the highway where another wedding was taking place. They evacuated the park and everyone descended on the hotel. My bride offered the displaced bride the use of the ceremony site. That has to be great karma, right?

Wedding Day Paparazzi
Every family has them. The budding photographer amateur hobbyist uncle/friend of the family. With the understandable popularity of digital photography, more and more people show up to weddings with cameras in hand, wanting to capture their own piece of the day.
As long as it doesn’t interfere with the ability of the professional to do their job, it can add a fun element of paparazzi energy to the wedding. On the other hand, why not leave your camera at home, let the professional do their job and party! Pick up a drink instead— dance the night away and celebrate with friends and loved ones. Cut loose!

To Have and to Hold
Any time you see a wedding featured in a movie, you see intimate shots like this one. One of the reasons I absolutely love photographing Northwest weddings, because so many of them are outdoors.
This is a very difficult, if not impossible angle to get in a traditional church setting. First and foremost, your photographer should be respectful of your ceremony. A photographer scrambling to get a shot like this at a church can be very distracting. But if your wedding is at an outdoor venue, then the sky is the limit.
From this day forward. Photos you will treasure for a lifetime. Storytelling by Randy Kepple Photographs. See who’s available for your wedding date before it’s too late!
Keeping Portland Wild!
Performance art is art in which the actions of an individual or a group at a particular place and in a particular time constitute the work. It can happen anywhere, at any time, or for any length of time.
Sounds a LOT like a wedding to me! I’ll bring the camera, you bring the fun!

Bridal Fashion Portrait
Give me the side of a red barn and open shade any day of the week. I wanted to create more depth and drama in this image, rather than have them stand side by side. It’s great when couples “own it” and trust you and your vision.
Did you know that any of the photos on our site can be enlarged by clicking on them? Pretty cool, huh? We also have a very handy photographer date checker. Enter your wedding date and it will give you a list of photographers that are available for your date, including links to their web sites.
The First Dance
The music starts, she places her hand in his and together they take the spotlight for their first dance together as husband and wife.
All the chaos of the wedding day becomes still and everyone’s attention turns to the newly married couple on the dance floor. The intimacy of the bride and groom, the mother and father holding each other with tears in their eyes, the little girls with big eyes dreaming of their wedding day… all comes together with the first dance. One of my favorite moments.
Telling your story with unique and heartfelt images.

Driving Miss Daisy
Put the father of the bride behind the wheel of his favorite car and all is well with the world. Every time I see this image of dad and his beautifully restored Packard Sedan, I think of the movie Driving Miss Daisy.
Most fathers are quiet on their daughter’s wedding day. As if they were trying to take it all in. The lifetime of memories playing in their minds like a favorite movie. Driving his daughter to her wedding in a car that reflects his passion and the long hours of time creating what it is in that moment is a beautiful metaphor of raising a daughter.
Creating timeless, artistic images you will treasure forever is more than a statement. It’s a passion. Visit Randy Kepple Photographs to see more of my work. Need a photographer? See who’s available!
The Art of Weddings
Artistic wedding photos are more than a collection of pretty images. It’s the unifying thread that brings them all together. It’s a point of view—a sensibility as subtle and unique as you.
Creating images on the run is very challenging. The art is in recognizing the elements coming together in a single moment and having the sensibility, experience and timing to make it all work. I love moments like this. You can feel the urgency, the warmth of the sunlight. There is a feeling that makes you sigh and create your own story within the frame of this image.
Let me share this passion with you. Check availability for your wedding and set up an appointment to meet with me in person.
Forever By My Side
This moment almost didn’t happen. The groom is active military and was being deployed in a few days. They live in Olympia and met me in Portland on a chilly December morning for a very intimate engagement session.
Sessions like this, one on one with couples madly in love are easily my favorite. They are always powerful and emotional sessions that reaffirm all that is good in this world.
I was only hired for the engagement session, but they enjoyed it so much, I was asked to attend their very intimate and private ceremony in Hawaii this summer. Of course I said “I do!”
Authentic and real. Just like your love. Consider hiring a professional photographer for your destination wedding, whether it’s Maui or Portland.
On Being A Flowergirl
There can be no denying that flowergirls quite simply, have the hardest job at the wedding.
Everyone expects you to be cute, grownup and proper. But you’re a kid. You want to be grown up, but the grown ups are so demanding and well… boring. The makeup is cool, but there is a price for that beauty.
Recently engaged? Consider hiring one of Portland’s best photographers for your wedding.
Bursting with Joy
The San Juan Islands are a beautiful place to get married. Long, romantic ferry rides and a sense of time standing still.
Even though it was stormy, nothing was stopping this bride from expressing how she felt. Moments like this are what make wedding photography so worthwhile— a touchstone of joy for all time.

In a valley sprinkled with wineries, Youngberg Hill Vineyards is uniquely situated on top of a hill. With nearly 360 degree panoramic views of the valley below, it’s a dramatic setting for a wedding celebration.

Love on the Willamette River
You know the song. You can’t help but start singing.
“Love, exciting and new. Come aboard, we’re expecting you. Love, life’s sweetest reward. Let it flow, it floats back to you.”
Weddings on a boat can be very challenging, but they are always beautiful. There is something nostalgic about being on the water. The promise of adventure. The thrill of romance on the high seas.

The First Look
It’s always a debate as to whether you should see each other for the first time before the ceremony. Not seeing each other until the ceremony is a tradition that dates back to the time of arranged marriages. It has nothing to do with superstition.
You should choose to do it your way. There are pros and cons to both choices. No matter what you choose to do, it’s a special moment. Couples seeing each other before the wedding ceremony tend to be more relaxed and there are more opportunities to enjoy the moment.
A professional photographer will help you make the most of your wedding day. If you haven’t been to my site, I encourage you to take your first look. Randy Kepple Photographs is accepting commissions for 2010 weddings. Dates fill up quickly, so don’t delay!
Between the Lines
Just the three of us. Hastily taking advantage of a lull between the ceremony and the reception. The blush of love.
As I was leaving the two of them to enjoy a few moments alone before the celebration started, I caught this very private moment between lovers. I love a voyeuristic point of view. A stolen glance, a quiet moment between the lines of the day.
Their wedding was at the Heritage Ballroom at the Governor Hotel in Portland, Oregon. A magnificent expanse of a room with old world charm. One of my favorite locations to photograph a wedding.
Sneak a peek at Randy Kepple Photographs and commission your wedding before 2010 dates fill up.
Behind the Scenes
It’s true that many times the best moments are those happening behind the scenes. Kristen was striking a pose in a beautiful green doorway while her newly married husband, Drew helped keep her veil off the ground.
One photographer, two views. Being present, in the moment. Sharing in the blush of love. Look at the joy in their faces… I dare you not to smile.
In front of the camera, behind the camera, everywhere and nowhere. Capturing the story of your day, whether your wedding destination is Fort Scott, Kansas or Portland, Oregon.

Rock Star for a Day
Engagement sessions are my favorite portrait sessions. There, I said it out loud. Don’t get me wrong, weddings are wonderful, but they can also be a bit chaotic. Engagement sessions are intimate and an opportunity to connect with my couple and tell their story.
Jessica and Cyle’s engagement session ended up being one of my favorites. But it didn’t start out that way. Cyle is an attractive guy, but a bit awkward in front of the camera. He wasn’t sure what to do. So, I told him to be a rock star. Don’t worry about looking at the camera. Give me some attitude. Be aloof, reserved and cool. He nailed the role of rock star.
To get your rock star on, grab one of these and schedule your engagement session today.
The Space Between Moments
Nestled in the highlands of Mt. Hood, Oregon is a little place called The Resort at the Mountain. Calling the resort beautiful is an understatement.
Just as they do in the movies, it’s important to tell the story of the day by setting the scene. Taking a step away from the thumping music, the clinking of champagne glasses and the murmur of laughter and celebration to show the setting.
Storytelling is the passion that I bring with my camera and unique point of view. Let me tell the story of your love.
She Likes Being A Girl
You can take a girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl. Bring your favorite horse to a ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and you’ve got a destination wedding that will be remembered for years.
Jackson Hole is a magical place where working cowboys hang their hats and kick up their boots to dance at night. Amber and Michael even brought in local recording artist Judd Grossman, who gave me permission to use a song as the background music for their wedding day slideshow.
If your destination is Jackson Hole, Wyoming or Vancouver, Washington, I can meet you there. Have camera, will travel. For now, your destination is Randy Kepple Photographs.
