Fortuitous Framing at The Oregon Golf Club
Standing inside the upstairs room at The Oregon Golf Club, I glanced over at the balcony and found the doors framing the guys perfectly! I love it when taking a half step to the side makes something like this work better than if I’d asked them to line up.
The Gerding Theater – Armory Building
The Gerding Theater and the Armory Building is one of the most colorful venues I’ve had the pleasure of shooting in. The ceilings are filled with changing colors. Combine that with gallery rooms within the building, and the architectural style outside and you’re bound for some awesome photos.
High Key
What a beautiful subject to photograph! A bride will always make a room full of windows even more stunning!

Finding unique moments.
Weddings are FULL of great moments. Some beautiful, some emotional…and some quite unique.
I love watching brides and grooms interact, but keeping an eye on guests and family is always just as great.
Fill Light by Snow
Here’s another from a recent engagement shoot on Mt. Hood. The snow created an incredible light to shoot in…especially for these blue eyes.
Sunset on Mt. Hood
Saturday was an incredible day to be shooting on Mt. Hood. Scott, Erin and I spent the afternoon shooting in and around Timberline Lodge. On our way out, after we had what I would call their “famous hot chocolate,” we caught a few last shots as the sun was setting. A perfect end to a great day!
Abstract Fun
I love what spring rains bring. Dark clouds…violent winds…pouring rain. Then complete calm. And a shot like this!
Private Conversation
I always wonder what conversation a person is having with themselves. It’s never more private than at a time like this…before a groom sees his bride.

A Dog’s Dance
It’s tough to be the best friend of the bride and not get a dance! Well this guy wasn’t afraid to ask for one anyway.
Smokin!
I had a great time shooting James and Leslie! I think it’s obvious why.
We took all their portraits the Thursday before the wedding… real duplicates of makeup, flowers and all. It was a photographer’s dream come true.
Emotion Everywhere
This is an image from the wedding I shot yesterday at the Embassy Suites Hotel, which looks amazing this time of year. At the end of the day, my other photographer and I recapped over a burger and beer, and came to the conclusion that this day was so fun because the full range of emotions was on display throughout.
I’m supposed to what?!
I got a good laugh from this one. Phany’s face says it all. If a little Hennessy is good, then a lot is… still a lot!
Are We Done Yet?
Bridal Party + Bride and Groom + Photographer + 1 Limo = A Lot of Waiting These ladies and gents managed to entertain themselves quite well while we shot portraits around the South waterfront area. It’s fun to see what happens when you leave well enough alone.
Odd weather at the coast…
This photo goes wayyy back. My cousin was married on the coast and at the time his sister (also my cousin)
was working for David Jay, one of the most influential wedding photographers of the digital age. It was a big turning point in my career as I was privileged to be photographing alongside him that day. I love this photo for how it represents what was going on for me at the time.
So let’s have a little fun with the month…if you can guess the month this was taken, I’d be happy to send you a bag of my favorite Stumptown coffee beans! Seriously…this is absolutely no promotion of my particular business…but just a fun way for me to celebrate what I do for a living, as all my colleagues here have reason to.
Soft light
I skipped right over this photo when looking for images to use for previous posts. It wasn’t until I put it in a slideshow as the last image that it struck me how much I like it. Just something about peaceful soft light especially mixed with a little ocean mist.
Leading Lines
I’m always on the lookout for leading lines because of the way they help you focus on the key part of a photo. They’re easy to find in architecture, but here’s one I found using Anna’s bridal party. Ben and Anna were married in St. Mary’s Cathedral and celebrate at The Tiffany Center. There’s more to the story and more photos to browse at Kevin Meyers Photography.

Fall Fun
Yesterday I had the chance to shoot one last time before these sunny fall days turn to…well…I won’t say it, but you know what’s coming.
Chris, Nicole and I meandered our way around waterfront park for the perfect mix of Portland city shots and great fall colors. Warm sun and crisp air…my favorite weather!
Who knew…
I absolutely love this shot of Courtney! It’s one of those split second moments that captures a thought passing through a person’s mind.
It’s also a great example of what difference the perfect angle in an imperfect setting can make. Who knew a conference room with fluorescent lighting could leave her looking like a model in a studio!

Cannon Beach Wedding
Matt & Erin were married on Cannon Beach in the craziest weather I’ve ever shot in. Minutes before their ceremony it rained so hard that in about 2 minutes my clothes were soaked through. But as quickly as it came, the rain left them alone for the rest of the day. Some of us stayed at the Cannon Beach Hotel and I’d highly recommend it to those visiting…they serve great food!
