Once upon a time
Back in the days of film, we wedding photographers would sometimes carry multiple cameras to get the desired effect of our vision. We would also carry a multitude of film choices to use in all these cameras. It was actually fun thinking on the fly what would look good for this or that shot. These days we now sit in front of the computer after the wedding to conceive these images we had in our mind. Well at least I do. I don’t miss carrying all the equipment but the process of these images I do miss. To see the image you had envisioned come back as print was mesmerizing.

I do Hair do
On the day of their wedding, most couples really want to look their best. Be it clean shaven or stylish hair treatments, a professional stylist fits the bill for this big day.

Hollywood Lighting
Would you like to add a little whimsy to your wedding? How about some dramatic lighting to set your stage. When the lights are down low even the most beautiful larger rooms can be pretty dark. Painting the walls with light can add a bit of your own creativity to the mix.
I love it when couples are creative.
Over the Top
Now these are not new but I have been seeing them more lately. Yes, I’m talking about these big metal monogram Cake Toppers. Some are very nice, so nice you could use them to decorate your home after the wedding. If you are looking for something other than a standard cake topper there are alternatives in the search for your perfect topping…
The Governor Hotel
For couples looking for venues for both the ceremony and reception, The Governor Hotel has many spaces that are well suited for your needs. The Heritage Ballroom is full of grace and sized right for the larger weddings. The Fireside Room is equally elegant for couples looking for a more intimate gathering. Photographically speaking the hotel is a one stop opportunity for some really nice images. Of course, being centrally located you will have many parks around the city to choose from for some outdoor photos.

Funny toast
Toast time is always a great time for photos. It’s great to hear the stories about the couples from the people closest to them. Most of the time the best shots are not of the toaster but the reaction to what they are saying. Showing the love and laughter of the wedding day is always important to me.

Don’t worry be happy…
As we begin the 2010 wedding season, I wish all brides and grooms the very best. Since you have found this blog you are definitely on the right track. There is a talent in doing wedding photography and it shows. As I look over my weddings I see that all my couples and their families are very happy. I love what I do and hope you will too.
Live music
I love photographing bands at wedding receptions. It’s always a challenge to record images that translate the fun, action, and music of a live band. Sure iPods are cool in that you can have a huge variety of music but they truly are not as fun to photograph.

Walkabout
This was one of my favorite couples from last Summer. Having done the groom’s brother’s wedding I had a good idea of what they liked. Kelly and Adam gave me slice of time to walkabout the location with just the two of them. I love the relaxed rural setting they chose for the wedding. It really shows in the photos.

Like it was meant to be…
I love these traditional shots when everyone is in agreement that there is somebody destined to be the one. I believe the bride was trying to tell her brother that his girlfriend should be next. Like a sports action shot she like sky jumped for this bouquet as everyone cheered her on.

Touches
I love when couples have little touches to capture at their weddings. Here was one of personalized roses to hand out to the guest. The touch I loved to most about this wedding was the small points of light in the background. I have to say this subtle and intimate lighting as a background is sweeter than having the entire room light up the with the flash. It doesn’t take much even Christmas lights work.
Happy Holidays to all!!!

Wedding Toast
Whenever there is a wedding, there is bound to be a toast, usually by the best man or maid of honor but sometimes they are made by the parents. I’ve heard the rules are to keep it short, keep it personal and to avoid mentioning well the unmentionables of course. These Dad’s broken one rule, the short one… One heartfelt with tears in everyone’s eyes and the other, just as tearful yet with heartfelt laughter.

Everything Seems Clearer…
As a wedding photographer, the best thing about me is you. Sometimes it’s capturing a friendship caught on fire. Catching this photo of Bob with the light of his life before him, it’s a very pretty flame indeed. It seems everything is truly clearer when you are in love.

With a Little Help
Sometimes requests for funny photos are timeless. Take for instance that request for that shotgun wedding photo. Well I hope I never see one of those at a wedding, but dragging the groom in is pretty safe. Well we couldn’t very well use the the grass with claw marks—the first thing that popped into my head—because he would get dirty. We did several other safe and clean ones and this was one.. I guess I’ll save the clawing the grass shot for a trash the dress and tux session…

Tying the Knot
I seem to be seeing more and more couples having a friend or family member stand up with them on their wedding day. Stella and Erik asked their mutual friend who in fact introduced them to each other stand before them on their wedding day. Having an uncle, godfather, dad or even a best friend talk about them in a way that no ordained minister can is truly beautiful moment to witness.

Got Milk?
So what do you do when you have a lot of guest? Get a lot of cake was an answer here. Mind you I’m looking at the middle of this table too. I love this shot of Sarah and Bryan cutting the tallest of their cakes.

Men
These guys just couldn’t keep from grinning ear to ear. So much for a sturdy guy shot, they were pussycats and that’s just fine. Everyone was so happy on this day it could only be shown that way.

Cocktail Hour
Usually a cocktail hour is reserved for weddings with a separate location for the reception. At Aerie my couple had theirs just so everyone could mingle for a bit before sitting down for dinner. This was a great time for getting candids of the guest up and moving about, details, and any of the family members or close friends who arrived just before the ceremony.
Lighting the way
Having friends and family lighting their way, Kevin and Kayla make their way to the married life. Having spent the day with them clearly they are always surrounded by love.
