Question Answered! Maui Sunrise Wedding

randy-kepple-portland-wedding-photographer-80 Paul Rich asked our resident photographers and stalker brides to share their favorite locations for a wedding.

In June, I had the privilege of photographing Stephanie and Josh’s sunrise, beach wedding on Maui, Hawaii. The reason it gets my nod as a favorite location? Well, the obvious is simply that it’s Maui. Second, no passport or work permits are required. But most of all, it’s the intimacy and spirit of Hawaii. No matter who you are or what you believe, everyone feels closer to the Divine in Hawaii. Love is in the air!

Closer to home, I have to agree that Bridal Veil Lakes is one of my personal favorite locations. For winter weddings, nothing beats the Governor Hotel. What’s your favorite wedding location? Great question Paul!

Whether it’s Maui or Multnomah, you pick the destination, I’ll bring the camera!

Jennifer Powell - Oh Randy! You’re a photographer after my own heart! Thanks for posting this wonderful image to remind me of the warm island breeze! I am so looking forward to my Maui wedding in October! And I’m hoping to sway Paul’s opinion about Maui vs. Bridal Veil when he attends!

Randy Kepple - Make sure he checks in with the local wedding community about permits if you plan to shoot on the beach. They are very particular about controlling shoots on their beaches for weddings.

And I agree with you… I’ll never forget the sweet island breeze, the sound of the water, the sun on my skin and the feeling of calm that permeates the culture.

Brian Laurent - That’s a beautiful image. It really put you there with all the elements in place (sun, shade, sea, trees, sky, clouds, soft sand, good lookin’ people). I’m also impressed by all the dynamic range you retained in the mixed sun/shade and how you kept the depth of field deep enough to make it all out but shallow enough to make the subjects pop. Excellence.

Randy Kepple - Thanks Brian!

The final image is indeed a reflection of my vision for this image. It did require a lot of post production work, but as you said, all the elements were there to begin with. Great location, beautiful couple and a photographer who knew how to put it all together in a split second.

Sigh… I wish I was there right now… :)

amber - lovely!!

as always, of course!
