The tradition behind the bridal veil is, appropriately, shrouded in mystery. There are many stories about why this diaphanous and oh-so-feminine accessory has become the crowning touch to the bridal ensemble. Some sources say that it was to protect the bride from evil spirits. Other sources say that it was a symbol of a bride’s purity. One source explained that the veil was used to hide the bride’s face from an unwilling suitor!
Today, the bridal veil is worn as a fashion accessory and as a nod to tradition. Not everyone chooses to wear a veil. However, for those that do, I will never tire of photographing a bride and her veil. There is something uniquely beautiful about it that I find inspiring.
