Sometimes It All Comes Together
I was shooting a May wedding and it was very rainy. When the rain stopped for a brief second, I took my bride and groom around the reception venue, Abernethy Center, to get some outdoor photos. When I saw the old truck and the steam coming out of the vents, something clicked. The red in the bouquet, the umbrella and the truck all fit in together.
I am often asked if this shot was planned – it was not. As experienced photographers of this blog, one of the biggest advantages we have is that we can easily recognize unique combinations of factors that create a beautiful image such as this, using color, backgrounds and well balanced compositions. This is usually done in split second and is the result of years of shooting and intuition gained through such experience.

Beautiful work….Every element is just perfect. Way to go beyond simply making the best of the situation and creating a piece of art.
This is an amazing image. The fact it was a random encounter makes it even better. Stellar work as always my friend.
This is a wonderful image. The colors, the visual elements, the lighting and how all of it comes together through the vision of an experienced photographer.
I don’t necessarily agree that it’s an advantage, I think a better word is experience. A trained eye sees all these elements coming together and knows where to place the couple, which lens to create the “look” they want and placing the exposure to render the mood.
Well done!
Oh Evrim, this just rocks! You will get accused of setting it up, I’m sure. A lot of people would have walked right by this opportunity…I am so glad you caught it.
Love this image! Great color and mood.
